Glam Girl Gear \\ RiRi Hearts M.A.C Fall 2013 Collection

Rihanna. With an endless string of fashion and beauty collaborations this year, it is slowly getting to a point where her name precedes her music. But don’t get me wrong – it’s not that her aural projects pale in comparison (we’re talkin’ five AMAs, six Grammys and 22 Billboard Music Awards at last count), but if past seasons’ collections are anything to go by, her third with M.A.C Cosmetics is all set for a stellar reception.

RiRi’s partnership with M.A.C stemmed from a fervent passion for the brand’s cult red lippie, Ruby Woo – a creamy matte crimson, with a tiny hint of blue, that is universally flattering. And it was this obsession that led to her first collab, featuring (you guessed it) RiRi Woo, a take on the iconic original, with a berry-hued twist.

First in a series of four drops, RiRi Woo launched earlier in May to much fanfare, riding on the wave of the singer’s Diamonds World Tour. The lippie was so in-demand that it sold out within three hours, leaving broken hearts in the aftermath. The summer portion (which was only available online) soon followed in June, adding two lipsticks, a blush duo, and a bronzer to the repertoire. By then, it was obvious that the first two drops were mere teasers leading up to the fall and holiday collections – with a whopping 31 limited edition items in total.

In true Rihanna fashion, the 20-piece fall edit is made for the bad girl gone glam. Set against a palette of sumptuous reds and browns, the limited edition series includes eye, lip and cheek hues, as well as brushes and falsies, all dressed in metallic rose gold and pastel pink.

The RiRi Woo lippie and Hibiscus Kiss blush duo return to guest star, with the former in two new incarnations – lip pencil and lipglass, alongside highlights like Talk That Talk (matte dark plum) and Who’s That Chick (frosty orange) lippies, Bad Girl Gone Good (warm copper) powder blush, and Diamonds (shimmery gold) cream colour base. We are especially smitten by the two eyeshadow quads, Her Cocoa (beige-brown) and Smoked Cocoa (grey), both offering rich metallic pigments to contour and highlight smokey eyes.

It’s with bated breath that I’ve been waiting for the biggest RiRi Hearts M.A.C launch of the year and given all that I’ve seen so far, you can consider me sold. Until the holiday (and final) collection hits stores later in December, I’ll be busy getting my mitts on this and I suggest you get in line.

The RiRi Hearts M.A.C Fall 2013 collection will be available at M.A.C Sephora Ion, M.A.C Ngee Ann City and M.A.C Bugis Junction this month for a limited time only.
